NEW CEO OF ENGEL & VöLKERS SOUTHERN AFRICA ANNOUNCED
New CEO of leading estate agency believes client service is key to ensuring optimal performance during a period of projected rapid growth.
Leading estate agency, Engel & Völkers Southern Africa, has announced the appointment of its new CEO, Craig Hutchison, effective 1 February 2009. Based in Pretoria, the key focus of the high-profile role is the operational management of the organisation with an emphasis on balancing optimal performance and sustainable growth and the expansion of the business into Southern Africa.
Active within the property and real estate industry for some time, Hutchison qualified as a chartered accountant on completion of his articles with Deloitte & Touche in July 1999. He joined Pangbourne Properties Limited as group financial manager in October 2000 and was appointed to the board on 29 June 2004. In September 2005, Hutchison was appointed as chief executive officer of Pangbourne Properties Limited, as well as sitting on the boards of iFour Properties Limited, Siyathenga Property Fund Limited and Monyetla Property Fund Limited, all JSE listed property companies. He brings a wealth of operational, managerial and tactical skills to Engel & Völkers Southern Africa.
“I am thrilled to be taking on this role during such an exciting and challenging period of growth for Engel & Völkers in Southern Africa,” says Hutchison. “A number of expansion opportunities exist in untapped markets; Sandton, Fourways and Hyde Park are but some of the high profile areas that fit the Engel & Völkers brand. The company is an icon of quality and exemplary customer service and I am looking forward to the challenge of building upon such a wonderful foundation.”
Engel & Völkers SA has been expanding its wide network of highly visible and distinctly branded signature shops since opening its doors in South Africa. Specialists in the sale and rental of prestigious residential and commercial real estate, the company offers a comprehensive service founded upon a genuine, proven, customer-oriented service philosophy.
Niël Cronje, former CEO of Engel & Völkers SA, believes Hutchison’s appointment is a milestone in the company’s history: “We are delighted that Craig has decided to undertake this pivotal role in our organisation. He is a seasoned executive with a refreshing, modern leadership style and we believe that he will bring invaluable strategic and business acumen to our operational procedures and processes.”
“The focus will be on exploring innovative property solutions, especially for the challenges facing the industry at present, with the team at Engel & Völkers SA” concludes Hutchison. “They are all highly-motivated and highly-competent individuals and we all already share a belief in the importance of client centricity and retention and the empowerment of professionals within the industry.”
